Presentation Requirements

In order to standardize and optimize the fluidity of the presentations during meetings and events, we have decided to share advice and inform you of our requirements.

Mandatory :

  • The presentation format should be the industry’s standard, that is, Microsoft PowerPoint;
  • The ratio should be 16:10 (you will find the settings under “Design/Page setup”;
    Page Setup Ajustements
  • Provide your presentation to the event organizer at least twenty-four hours prior to the event.

Suggestions:

  • The font used should be a sans serif font. Arial is a good example, contrary to serif font such as Times New Roman which, which is harder to read on a screen;
  • The slides should not include too much text, as they serve as support for the presenter’s explanations.
  • You should consider that the persons sitting in the far back of the room should be able to read your slides, we thus suggest a minimum character size of 24pts.
  • Also, restrain the amount of information on your flowcharts and use circles and/or arrows to put emphasis on important parts of the text;
  • Make sure you use high contrast colours. Blue is the easiest to read. Avoid red or yellow. By the way, red should only be used for frame boxes highlighting portions of texts. Limit yourself to three different colours for your presentation;
  • Be careful with the your picture’s contrast;
  • Lighten your presentation with compressed pictures by choosing JPEG format instead of BMP.

What could cause problems:

We suggest you take the time to send us your presentation in advance so we can test them before the event, specifically if you use one or more of the following options:

  • Conversion of a KeyNote (apple) presentation to PowerPoint;
  • Insertion of videos or internet links;
  • Use of templates;
  • Although PowerPoint offers many different and cute animated options, we suggest not using them because they do not provide any particular added value.
