A little History
The Royal Military College Saint-Jean Library was founded in 1952, at the same time as the College. It was initially located in a small building, next to the stable, and formerly used as a farrier shop. It contained 3000 books and could welcome a handful of students at a time.
The next year, it moved to the Administration building (now called the Massey building) in a room that could hold 17000 books and welcome up to 30 students at once.
The definitive move was completed in November 1972, in spacious rooms of the Lahaie building, built in 1971.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Royal Military Saint-Jean College Library is to support the research and teaching activities of the RMC Saint-Jean community members. In addition, the library is in charge of inventory management and distribution of textbooks used in college and university courses. Moreover, the library offers teamwork rooms and materials for leisure and personal growth to its members.
The library aims for excellence in the services provided to the community. It satisfies your requirements in the most courteous and efficient way, within reasonable limitations of time, staffing, and budget, in both official languages.
The library users include officer cadets and other students of the Canadian Armed Forces, College employees and other employees related to the Department of National Defence.
