The screen reads "Virtual Tour of Royal Military College Saint-Jean" in large capital letters. The letters become transparent, revealing a dynamic aerial view of the college site located on the edge of the Richelieu River. The lettering grows, leaving more and more room for background images of the site that showcase all of the site's buildings, including historic buildings with scarlet red roof tops, parking lots, sports fields, and grassy areas. The site, dotted with trees, borders the Richelieu River and is edged with trees and the town of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. |

The virtual visitor walks towards the glassed entrance of the de Léry Building on a tiled pavement. Before entering, the virtual visitor looks up towards the college's coat of arms and flag bearer sitting at the very top of the building. |
Hello and welcome to the virtual tour of RMC Saint-Jean. Hello I’m officer cadet Jesse Moran a third year student in the Internationals Studies programme. |
After passing through the doors, the virtual visitor is greeted in the lobby by two officer cadets dressed in uniform. |
I’m officer cadet Hamid a third year student as well. Follow us. |
One of the officer cadets advances towards the camera and extends a palm of the hand on the camera lens and then withdraws. |
Academics are the heart of the college. We’re here at the physics lab where students learn their practical skills that will help them in their future careers in the armed Forces and beyond. How about we go see our chemistry lab. |
The new setting is the science laboratories. An officer cadet stands in a laboratory next to tables and glass cabinets. He takes off his headgear and invites the virtual visitor to go to another lab pushing the doors that lead to it. |
We’re at the chemistry lab where students perform their experiments. To become an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces you must have your bachelor of degrees. Here at the college we offer varied of studies that aim to complement your job and your career as a future officer. |
The other lab is heavily windowed with several large blue working tables. The officer cadet wears a white lab coat to present the college's programs. |
To become an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces you must be bilingual and RMC Saint-Jean help you to achieve that by providing French lessons, culture trips to places such as France, Belgium and, if you struggle with the French language, ça va aller. |
In a bright classroom, an officer cadet sits, book in hand, on one of the many desks arranged in front of a large wall screen. |

The camera focuses on the book, then the new setting appears: the library. |
I’m here at the library enjoy some peace and quit in a peaceful environment. This is the place where you come in for must academic resources. And I advised you to coming here and work on your studies. |
At the library, the officer cadet enters a rest area where armchairs are placed in front of large windows overlooking the Richelieu River. |
We’re on a different part of the library. This is where you do must of your group work. We have the quit study rooms, the computer stations and another part where officer cadets get together and do the other group works. Basically, everything is available for you to succeed. |
The officer cadet then uses a staircase to show another floor of the library where there are computer stations and meeting rooms. |

The camera tours library shelving holding the documentary resources. |
Athletics are a vital aspect of life in college and it contribute to your overall success as an officer cadet. You achieved that here at the gym. |
Then a new sequence at the weight room displays an officer cadet in a sports gear walking between the workstations. |
Officer cadets are expected to meet a certain standard of physical fitness for both of Canadian Armed Forces and the military colleges. That’s why you’re tested multiple times a year with Forces test and the Canadian military colleges test. |
The officer cadet then is at the gymnasium where he catches a basketball. On the wall of the gymnasium, the college logo appears on a banner hanging on the wall. The officer cadet throws the ball to the ground. |
In order to excel in the athletics pillar we have a great team of professional kinesiologists and personal trainers that offer courses, personalized training plans and sports that help us achieve the highest physical potential. |
Dressed in a blue jersey, the officer cadet stands in the middle of the rink where the college logo appears under the ice. |
Here at the college we’re very fortunate to have several facilities to help us with our training and sports like this 25 meters pool. |
Dressed in sports gear, the officer cadet then stands in front of the pool facilities: wall stopwatch, planks, floats and life jackets are stored on the wall. |
Everyone at the college must participate in sports. So those who are not involved in representative teams must participate in intramural sports. These sports included soccer, deck hockey, basketball and volleyball. |
Wearing shorts and a t-shirt, the officer cadet jogs on the football field towards the camera. Around the field, there is an athletics track and trees in the distance. |

The camera points to the sky and then descends. |
Before arriving in RMC Saint-Jean you’ll do your basic military officer qualification and afterwards you’ll participate in two annual exercises. One in the fall, in Farnham and one in winter, in Valcartier. |
Then appears an officer cadet in a combat suit with the Canadian flag standing in front of a brushwood. Then officer cadets appear in combat uniforms crawling under metal ropes. We then see an officer cadet rappelling from a tower specifically designed for this type of exercise and then then cadets moving on roped walls. |
There you’ll participate in activities such as rappelling, obstacle courses and survival. And most importantly, you’ll have fun with your friends. |
After his presentation, the officer cadet approaches the camera and then turns it with the hand. |
At RMC Saint-Jean we practice drill, participating parades such as are badging ceremony, remembrance day and the end of year parade. He’s an all part of our culture and traditions and will make it different from other universities. |
The parade square appears. An officer cadet in traditional scarlet uniform stands in front of a massive memorial evoking Canada's maple leaf emblem. The vast parade square is in the background and then, further on, buildings surrounded by trees. |
Life in the college can be very demanding and that’s why we have the Mess Saint-Maurice. A place where you can come in, relax, have the night off and enjoy with your friends. This Mess is our place. |
An officer cadet dressed in civilian clothes leans over a pool table to play a ball. He then moves forward and pool tables, comfortable chesterfields and a piano can be seen. A luminous garland snakes through the walls as a decoration. |
When you first arrive at the college this is a type of room you get. It’s shared with your franco roommate. |
The officer cadet then appears in a dorm room with two work desks in front of a window, two lamps, two chairs and two well-made beds. On the wall is installed a television screen. |
And as the more responsibilities you get, the more privileges you earn. That start with a single bedroom. |
After a snap of fingers, the officer cadet miraculously finds himself in a single room. As for the double room, all the furniture is there. There is a work desk in front of a window, a dresser and a fan next door, a single bed with a table and a bedside lamp. |
We’re here at the Dextraze, this is our cafeteria where we come in and eat most likely three times a day. The food here is good. We have variety of meals, we have fruits and sandwiches. My favorite, steak Thursday. |
We then see an officer cadet in the dining room; behind her, people sitting at the tables discussing and eating. Next is a close-up of the cafeteria table as a food service worker serves a plate of pizza. We then see the fruit bar and the sandwich bar. |
We hope you enjoy the virtual tour. You would like to join us at RMC Saint-Jean, visit the Web site. |
The two officer cadets reappear in the entrance hall dressed in their uniform standing on the college logo encrusted in the slabs of the floor. The students then thank the virtual visitor. |
