Chief Instructor

Major Stephane Daigle joined the Canadian Armed Forces in Quebec City as a private. After completing his basic training in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, he was transferred to the 12e Régiment Blindé du Canada as a crewman where he spent most of his career.

A proud member of the armoured regiment, Maj Daigle has held various positions within the regiment, including reconnaissance crew commander, troop Warrant Officer, squadron and regimental operations Warrant Officer. He also served as Senior Master Warrant Officer and Technical Advisor to the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) and as a Sergeant Major in two squadrons. During his time away from the regiment, Maj Daigle held multiple instructor positions at the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School, the Combat Training Centre HQ, the Royal Military College and the Munition Experimentation and Test Centre (Research Centre). He was also posted to the Royal Canadian Armoured Corps School as RSM and as Deputy Chief Warrant Officer of the Armoured Corps. Subsequently, he was posted to the Canadian Defence Academy as the Non-Commissioned Member Professional Development Chief Warrant Officer and to the Army Staff College as the Military Professional Education Chief Warrant Officer. Prior to accepting his commission, Major Daigle served as the 6th Brigade Sergeant Major in Kingston.

Maj Daigle has participated in several operational deployments within the CAF, in 1990-1991 he took part in Operation Snowgoose in Cyprus with the 12e Regiment blinde du Canada. In 1993, Maj Daigle deployed on Operation Cavalier in Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 2e R22R under the United Nations and in 1995 with the 3e R22R. In 1999-2000, he returned to Bosnia-Herzegovina where he participated in Operation Palladium but this time with the 1er R22R under the NATO organization. In 2008, he participated in Operation Athena in Kandahar, Afghanistan with the 2nd PPCLI as an armoured reconnaissance squadron Warrant Officer. In 2010-2011, he again participated in Operation ATHENA in Afghanistan with the 1st R22R but this time as a Squadron Sergeant Major. In 2019-2020, he finally takes part in Operation Calumet in Egypt as the Task Force Sergeant Major.

Maj Daigle has completed the Army Technical Warrant Officer program. He also holds a college certificate in management and a university degree in military science. He is a member of the Order of the Military Merit and received a commendation of the Commandant of the Canadian expeditionary forces. Maj Daigle is the father of three children and in his spare time enjoys running, hiking and playing golf.
