Chief Warrant Officer Rick Plante, CD

Chief Warrant Officer Rick Plante was raised in St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Québec, and joined the Canadian Armed Forces in January 1990 as a crew man. After receiving his initial training in CFB Gagetown, he was posted to the 12e Régiment blindé du Canada (12 RBC) in Valcartier, Québec.

From 1990 to 2004, Chief Warrant Officer Plante was employed in different capacities within the Regiment, from driver, gunner, Leopard Tank & Coyote recce crew commander and as an Assault troop section Commander. During his time with the 12 RBC, CWO Plante deployed 4 times in Bosnia-Herzegovina as part of the NATO and United Nations task forces.

In 2004, he was posted to the Joint Nuclear Biological Chemical Defence Company where he filled the positions of SIBCRA Detachment Commander, Troup Warrant Officer, Troup Commander and Operations Warrant Officer. In 2009, he was briefly posted to the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in St- Jean as a Platoon Commander, returning to CJIRU in 2010 where he filled the position of 1 Sqn Sergeant-Major, as well as Ops and Training Squadron Sergeant-Major.

In 2013, CWO Plante was posted to CANSOFCOM HQ to assume the responsibility of Occupation Manager for the CBRN Operator trade. He was appointed CJIRU RSM in June 2015. He returned to his home town as the Chief Instructor of the Osside Institute in the summer of 2018.

CWO Plante and his wife Nadia are the proud parents of 3 children, Zoe, Chad and Kai.
